Our Water Treatment Process
A complex movable blast furnace with a slag mineral filtering system is used to clean waste water. This system separates water molecules from solid materials and biological matter.
Polymers are used to clump together any dirt in the water, which is then put into tanks to settle. From there, the water runs through special filters before being cleaned.
After the water has been treated, special filters are cleaned with high-pressure jets of water and double screens to get rid of things like biological waste and grit. The whole process can be done over and over again as needed.
Waste Water Treatment
Properly treating water is very important. Even though the process seems easy, it is actually a logistical challenge that requires special equipment and staff who have been trained in the right way to use it. There are 4 steps to the process.
- Coagulation and Flocculation; creates larger molecules called flocs.
- Sedimentation; settles flocs into sludge.
- Filtration; removes any remaining suspended impurities.
- Disinfection; applies chlorine to kill disease-causing microorganisms.
Water treatment can be used to give clean and safe water to private clients, building sites, and industrial units, among other places. This is done with specialised water cleaning methods that can be changed to fit almost any property.
Coagulation and Flocculation
The raw water is treated with things like aluminium sulphate and sometimes with bigger molecules called polymers. These things cause tiny molecules of dirt to stick together in a process called coagulation. Coagulation makes the smaller molecules stick together to form clumps, which then stick to each other to form flocs, which are bigger clumps. This is a process called flocculation.
Because the molecules get bigger, they get heavier, which helps when the flocs pass through to the sediment tanks in the next step of the process.
Sedimentation
After the coagulation and flocculation steps, the water is put into tanks to settle. Inside these tanks, water is slowly moved, which, along with gravity, moves flocs (clumped particles) to the bottom of the tanks, where they settle and form sludge, which is then processed to separate storage ponds.
Sedimentation helps the process of treating water by getting rid of any particles that might still be in the water. Basically, this process gets rid of the bigger contaminants in the water so that it can be filtered.
Filtration
Once the flocs have been taken out by settling, the water can go through the filters. During a percolation process, slag from a blast furnace is used as the cleaning medium. Other materials, such as gravel and anthracite, are also used. Slag is the waste from melting metals, usually iron into steel. It can contain metal oxides, silicon dioxide, sulphides, and other metals.
Filtration is important because it gets rid of any tiny impurities in the water that wouldn’t be caught any other way. This is the last step in the filtering process and the last chance for any particles in the water to be caught.
Filters are cleaned regularly with high-pressure water and double screening to make sure they work well and are clean.
Disinfection
As a last step to protect against microbial poisoning, the water is disinfected after it has gone through the filter. Most of the time, chlorine is used because it kills bacteria and microorganisms that can cause sickness.
Even though adding chlorine to water might sound strange, it is totally safe for people to use below certain levels. When chlorine is added to drinking water, the levels are so low that you can’t even taste or smell it.
